Police on Friday announced strict measures were in place for the upcoming Apollon – Ael match slated for Sunday at 7pm at the Alphamega stadium.

The force called on all fans attending the match to behave with “sportsmanship and respect”.

Police urged fans planning to watch match to arrive at the stadium no later than one hour before kick-off due to the strict controls that have been decided. It clarified that fans who arrive late may enter the stadium late, after the start of the match.

The entrances to the stadium will open to the public at 5pm.

At every entrance there will be inspections for fan cards and then entry will be gained by a rotating entrance gate with a valid ticket. There will also be a special check on children’s tickets.

Police specified that those holding children’s tickets should bring their ID card, which may be requested.There will be ticket offices at the Stadium for Apollon fans only. For AEL fans, tickets will be available for pre-sale only.

Apollon fans, the home team, will be allocated the Central (West), East and South Ring. Entrances W1, W2, S1, S3, E1, E2, E3 and VIP Entrance in the grandstand will be open. For the grandstand, entry will only be allowed on tickets which specify those seats.

Apollon fans are requested to head to the Alphamega stadium via the A6 highway towards Paphos, exit towards Kolossi (E 605) and then turn right towards the stadium. Apollon fans can park in the designated parking areas of the stadium. This is for the smooth arrival and departure of Apollon fans, police said.

The fans of the visiting team, AEL, will be allocated the north stand and only Entrance N2 of the stadium will be open. Entry will be allowed into the stand which is specified on the ticket, otherwise no entry will be allowed into the stadium.

For the smooth arrival and departure of AEL fans to and from the stadium, they are requested to head towards Alphamega stadium via the A6 highway towards Paphos, exit towards Kurri Dam and then via Parthenonos Street (first turn right). Then from the first exit of the new roundabout, drive to the stadium. Ael fans can park in the designated areas of the stadium for guests.

Police stressed that flares, firecrackers and other dangerous objects into the stadium are strictly prohibited. Banners with political, abusive or other provocative content and clothing with political symbols are banned.
