Looking for a wintery escape to the mountain villages? There will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy rural Cyprus this winter, especially as local communities put on festive events and celebrations to mark the holiday season.
The community of Vavla is hosting a one-day winter agenda with workshops, live performances, village vibes and Cypriot traditions. On November 23, just before the sun sets, the residents of Vavla will open their homes, courtyards, and other locations in the village to host artists for one-day experiential workshops.
The fun will take place between 2pm and 5pm as creative workshops happen simultaneously around the village. You will be able to choose from activities with Honey and Beeswax at Ecophysis (2pm and again at 3.30pm), a traditional stool-making with anathreka workshop from 2pm to 5pm, Christmas wreath crafting with natural ingredients at 3pm, and traditional bards and their songs with Michalis Terlikkas at 2pm.
To wrap up the workshops, the day will end with a treat gathering in the old school building for all artists and participants, followed by a short concert by Nama Dama and Lefteris Moumtzis. Limited spots are available so if you want to join, it is best to contact the organisers and book a place soon.
