The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) on Thursday announced the passing of its president Costas Agrotis.
The announcement described Agrotis as a pioneer, visionary, and cornerstone of the Cypriot IT community.
“Costas Agrotis leaves behind an irreplaceable gap in the sphere of informatics in Cyprus,” the CCS stated.
The CCS also said that as president, Agrotis led the organisation with “foresight, stability, and an unwavering sense of justice”.
In addition, his tenure saw the society flourish, becoming a cornerstone of the industry and contributing significantly to the development of IT in Cyprus.
Moreover, the CCS praised Agrotis for his remarkable ability to bring people together.
“With his characteristic calmness, he managed to unite different opinions, build bridges of collaboration, and pave the way for a better future,” the organisation said.
The organisation also said that Agrotis’ “determination in the face of adversity was nothing short of inspiring”.
Despite a prolonged battle with cancer, “he remained dedicated to his duties, giving his all to the society, the people around him, and, above all, his family”.
The society added that “his courage, perseverance, patience, and dignity served as a powerful example to everyone who knew him”.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Agrotis was known for his humanity and kindness, the announcement stated.
“He was always willing to listen, guide, and share his wisdom and experience,” the CCS said, adding that his “benevolent nature and ability to bring out the best in others left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him”.
Agrotis’ legacy, the announcement explained, is not only reflected in his professional achievements but also in the life lessons he imparted.
“His example teaches us to work with dedication, face challenges with courage, and give selflessly,” said the CCS, vowing to continue his work and uphold his bright legacy.
“Costas Agrotis’ life and work will remain an enduring source of inspiration for all of us,” the announcement concluded.
