A fire that broke out on Tuesday night caused extensive damage to a home in the community of Lemythou. The resident managed to evacuate in time, while a neighbouring property also sustained damage.
According to the fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis, four fire engines from Limassol, along with fire units from the British bases, were deployed to extinguish the blaze.
Part of the roof collapsed and the fire spread to an adjacent house. However, fire crews successfully protected other nearby properties from damage.
The fire was brought under control shortly afterward, though fire crews remained on-site overnight as a precaution.
Initial investigations suggest that the fire may have started from a fireplace.
