Where do you live?
I am a refugee from Kyra, Morphou, and I now live in Nicosia with my family.
What did you have for breakfast?
Black olives and a chunk of fresh bread.
Describe your perfect day
Riding a motorcycle to the mountains.
Best book ever read?
Secrets of the Swamp by Penelope Delta. I have read hundreds of books but this one has a special meaning for me. I was reading it when the 1974 invasion happened and it was lost. I have been looking for a copy ever since and managed to find one a few weeks ago in a house being demolished. I am now reading it so many years later and it is a very emotional experience.
Best childhood memory?
Being with my parents and siblings. I am the fourth of eight brothers and one sister. We used to go to the orchards, where my parents had all kinds of fruit. The workers would come to pick the fruit, which would then be exported. We lost everything in the invasion.
What is always in your fridge?
Halloumi
What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
Rock
What’s your spirit animal?
The eagle because flying with an eagle makes everything seem so trivial.
What are you most proud of?
For my family and especially my children and everything I will be leaving behind. Life is like a falling star. Sometimes people see your trail, sometimes they don’t.
What movie scene has really stayed with you?
The Merchants of Nations based on the book by Alexandros Papadiamantis. The scene with the old lady because we had to walk to the coffee shop to watch TV and on our way home we thought an old lady was after us. It is funny now but I will never forget that scene.
If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
My father because I love him immensely.
If you could time travel when/where would you go?
I’d go back in time to see my father.
What is your greatest fear?
I have overcome all my fears. I don’t have any now.
What would you say to your 18-year-old self?
To be more reserved because I thought I knew everything at that age.
Name the one thing that would stop you dating someone.
If they were snobbish.
If the world is ending in 24 hours, what would you do?
I would take my family, hug them and spend the remaining time with them.
Andreas is a collector of vintage and historical motorcycles, which he restores. He founded the Cyprus Classic Motorcycle Museum 25 years ago, which showcases part of his collection of 450 motorcycles.
Until January 6 Andreas – dressed as Father Christmas – will take children and adults alike on rides around the Nicosia city centre in the sidecar of his 1940 BSA.
You can follow Andreas and the museum on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, or meet him in person at the museum and sign what is believed to be the longest guest book in Cyprus.
