A small bird, a chiffchaff, was found in a bird lover’s garden over Christmas after having flown to the island all the way from Hungary, BirdLife said on Tuesday.

It made the journey in just two months.

The bird was ringed in Hungary last October and it was photographed by BirdLife member Peter Bromley on Christmas eve in Larnaca.

The chiffchaffs travelled 2,006 km on the journey, showing the incredible abilities for a tiny bird weighing just 10 grams.
