A 31-year-old man living in an abandoned apartment in Larnaca was hospitalised on New Year’s Day after being assaulted and injured with a sharp object.
Investigations started when police, at approximately 7.20pm on Wednesday, January 1, received information regarding an injured individual outside a taxi office.
An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and transported the injured man to Larnaca general hospital before the arrival of the police.
Larnaca CID officers visited the hospital, where they found the 31-year-old who had sustained a laceration at the base of his little finger and a six-centimetre laceration on his hand.
Medical staff sutured the wound, placed a splint on the injured man’s left little finger, and then discharged him.
The man told the police that at approximately 6.45pm, while he was in an abandoned apartment in Oroklini where he occasionally stays with his partner, nine individuals, whose identities he does not know, entered the apartment.
They assaulted him in various parts of his body and injured him with a sharp object.
Then, they forcibly transported him into one of the two vehicles they had and drove toward Larnaca.
However, at some point during the journey, he managed to escape and ran to the taxi office to seek help.
