Primary school students from the Paphos district village of Mandria on Monday took part in a tree-planting event at the village’s beach on Monday.
The children, helped by the Paphos district tourism board (Etap) and the village council, planted a total of 50 trees along the beach.
The initiative is the first of its kind to be implemented in Paphos’ tourism sector, with the hope that the trees will provide natural shade for beachgoers in the summer and future summers to come.
Etap said it hopes to upgrade the beach in other ways to become a “model beach” in the future, with “excellent access and services”.
