Police arrested six more people on Tuesday in connection with violent clashes between officers and supporters of Omonia 29 May. The incidents took place outside Apollon’s indoor stadium during a handball match between the two teams.
The trouble erupted on the evening of January 28 at around 9.25pm. Around 100 masked Omonia 29M fans arrived at the venue, armed with bats and other weapons.
To control the situation, police fired tear gas. One officer was slightly injured after being struck by objects thrown during the confrontation.
So far, authorities have arrested 13 people in total, while six more remain wanted.
Limassol’s criminal investigation department is continuing its inquiries.
