Cyprus Post has issued a set of special edition stamps celebrating four vintage motorcycles on display at the Cyprus Museum of Classical Motorcycles in Nicosia, which this year is celebrating its 25th anniversary.

The featured motorcycles are a 1947 Panther, a 1947 Triumph, a 1956 Norton and a 1972 MV Agusta.

Panther M100 600cc 1947 – €0,64c: The Panther M100 with a single 600cc engine can go everywhere and even tow a heavy sidecar. It is the only one to be found in Cyprus and is considered to be exceptional for its inclined engine design and the special style that the Phelon & Moore factory made back in 1947.

Triumph Speed Twin 500cc 1947 – €0,85c: An outstanding motorcycle for its time, it was manufactured after the end of the World War II. Designed by the renowned Edward Turner with its early introduction of twin cylinders and overhead valve elevated it to a higher level. It’s very special colour and chrome reflects light from every angle thus creating a diamond look to the observer.

Norton Featherbed Wideline Racer 500cc OHV 1956 – €0,41c: Built with a Norton Manx Frame, the Manx GP was one of the greatest motorcycles ever made for the racing world of its time and was a winner several times from 1947 to 1962. Its frame allowed it to lean and balance so well on the curves that it was unbeatable on the racetrack. The aerodynamics and every single structure of the motorcycle were developed in such a way as to achieve top speed and leaning angles on every curve.

MV Agusta Scrambler 350cc 1972 – €0,34c: A unique Italian motorcycle only on display in Cyprus, was a limited edition piece from the factory on the shores of lake Varese in Italy in 1972. Amazingly, it has never been restored.

The Cyprus Museum of Classical Motorcycles is situated in the heart of the walled city of Nicosia and houses 150 motorcycles of the 450 in the collection. Each motorcycle exhibited carries a particular historical narrative that is linked to its time in Cyprus and the evolution of motorcycles from the 20th century until the 1980s and 1990s.

Owner Andreas Nicolaou has been collecting and maintaining old motorcycles since he was young and fulfilled his life’s dream in 2000 by founding the museum.

The year 2025 is dedicated to the silver anniversary of the museum with shows and activities being staged at its premises in Nicosia as well as across Cyprus.

The Cyprus Museum of Classical Motorcycles, the only one in the surrounding region, has gained international recognition by thousands of visitors for its unique exhibitions.

The museum enjoys a special place in the tour of Nicosia and in 2023 and 2024 it was declared a best destination by Tripadvisor.
