XeniArtSpace is proud to present “BioPhilia: Enchanted Realities of Max Naylor”, a captivating solo exhibition showcasing the mesmerising world of the eponymous British artist. Known for his imagined landscapes — or even “mindscapes” — Naylor masterfully blends memory, imagination and instinct to create an alternate universe that is both familiar and otherworldly.

A graduate of Falmouth School of Art, Brighton University and Royal London’s Drawing School, Naylor now lives and works in Bristol, UK, where he is a resident artist at Spike Island Studios and teaches at the Royal Drawing School in London.

His work is characterised by an intricate interplay of color, form, and atmosphere, combining influences from Art Deco, Expressionism, and traditional Japanese woodblock prints. His oil paintings—meticulously constructed over time—contrast with his rapid, intuitive ink drawings, both of which reflect his deep engagement with the subconscious and the natural world.

Winner of the Jackson’s Open Art Prize (2016) and the Discerning Eye Drawing Bursary (2017), Naylor has exhibited widely across the UK, with international residencies in cities such as Delhi, Los Angeles and Tuscany. His unique palette and visual language, shaped by his travels and diverse cultural experiences, transport viewers to landscapes where night and day coexist in an enchanting, timeless dance.

“BioPhilia: Enchanted Realities of Max Naylor” invites visitors to step into the artist’s evolving microcosm, where nature, memory and imagination converge. Each painting offers a glimpse into an alternate world—one that is at once introspective, vibrant and boundless.

Join us in celebrating the immersive artistry of Max Naylor from March 1-May 24, 2025.
