Where do you live?
In Limassol
What did you have for breakfast?
Cereal
Describe your perfect day.
I like cloudy weather. It is usually during those days that I feel like creating.
Best book ever read?
I can’t single out a creation as a ‘favourite’ – every day that passes I have different needs as a person, I study what the soul wants. I mainly read collected poems – mostly Cavafy. Constantine Cavafy’s poetry has a particular way of touching the soul with the melancholy and pessimism it emits. This is exactly why it touches me: the acceptance of fate without the person losing his pride and authenticity.
Best childhood memory?
The moment music entered my life. For me, it was a way out of reality, something I have needed since then. My first contact with music was a moment of discovery and understanding, it was the moment that determined the whole course of my life.
What is always in your fridge?
Just the basics necessary to cover a person’s daily needs.
What music are you listening to in the car at the moment?
I avoid listening to music in the car, as my mind travels to music instead of focusing on driving. If I choose to listen to something, it depends on the day and my needs. I usually listen to classical music.
What’s your spirit animal?
I identify mostly with the eagle because it is independent and solitary, it sees the big picture from high up without being afraid of the challenges.
What are you most proud of?
For the fact that I am always straightforward, whether it is something negative or positive.
What movie scene has really stayed with you?
In The Pianist, 2002, I found one of the most touching scenes of cinema. It is a scene in which Władysław Szpilman, after a few years of hunger and fear, sits at a piano again before a German officer. Despite being weak, he plays Nocturne in C-sharp minor by Frédéric Chopin, expressing all the loss, survival and power of art at a time of war. The scene is deeply emotional as it shows how music remains a source of hope, even in the darkest times.
If you could pick anyone at all (alive or dead) to go out for the evening with, who would it be?
If I had the opportunity, I would like to meet Frédéric Chopin. This particular composer was the reason I started playing the piano. I have always felt his music expresses me.
If you could time travel when/where would you go?
I have always wanted to have lived in the romantic age, as today romanticism seems to be missing from the souls of most people… and if you ask me, few will now appreciate what is romantic as it deserves!
What is your greatest fear?
Separation.
What would you say to your 18-year-old self?
Not to trust so easily…
Name the one thing that would stop you dating someone.
I would never date someone who was not authentic and sincere. I cannot stand hypocrisy and I always want to know the truth.
If the world is ending in 24 hours, what would you do?
I find truth at the piano, it is my other half… So, I would like to spend the last 24 hours of my life at my piano.
