A group of Cypriots staged a protest in Nicosia on Friday afternoon against the escalating violence in Gaza and the violation of the agreed ceasefire by Israel forces.

The protest was organised by United for Palestine near the Israeli embassy in Nicosia.

The event began at 5pm and the participants marched from a junction in Nicosia to the traffic lights near the embassy.

On behalf of United for Palestine, Markos Economou told the Cyprus News Agency that Israel had resumed the “national cleansing”, violating a truce that was only for creating impressions.

He added that the Cypriot government should have already terminated any cooperation with Israel.

The protestors were holding flags and banners calling for a ceasefire.
