A two-storey house caught fire in Kyperounta, in the wider Limassol area on Friday night, with the intensity of the blaze causing parts of its roof to collapse, fire department spokesperson Andreas Kettis said on Saturday.

According to Kettis, the fire originated from flammable material that was touching a fireplace and quickly spread to the roof of the house shortly after Friday midnight.

Four fire engines were deployed to extinguish the blaze.
