Two unique concerts with talented young musicians are coming to Larnaca and Nicosia by Sistema Cyprus. Presenting diverse repertoires, the concerts will feature the Intermediate Orchestras of Nicosia and Larnaca, the Beginner Orchestras of Nicosia and Larnaca, and the Junior Orchestra of Nicosia.
The first of the Crossing Paths concert series is an evening at Larnaca’s Lykourgos Municipal Theatre on March 14 at 6pm. The young musicians from the Intermediate Wind and Percussion Orchestra of Larnaca and the Intermediate Strings and Percussion Orchestra of Nicosia will join forces for an unforgettable musical result that draws inspiration from different musical cultures and historical periods.
Works for winds, strings and percussion will sound as the children bring to life beloved musical compositions, such as Habanera and Toreador’s Song from the famous opera Carmen by Georges Bizet, as well as the masterful overture Romeo and Juliet by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Of particular interest is the first official appearance of the Larnaca Beginner Wind and Percussion Orchestra, as young musicians will share the stage with the more experienced generation of Sistema Cyprus.
The second concert of the series will take place on April 5 in Nicosia at the Satiriko Theatre at 6pm. The Junior Strings and Percussion Orchestra of Nicosia will lead this musical experience with passion and enthusiasm.
The young musicians of Sistema Cyprus will present, among others, the timeless Farandole by Bizet, while the Beginner Strings Orchestra will take the stage for the first time under the supervision of Anastasia Nicolaidou. Both concerts are under the artistic supervision and direction of artistic director and maestro of Sistema Cyprus, Santiago Ossa Alzate.
