Cyprus 4.0: What sets a successful CEO apart?

The Harvard Business Review recently asked this question, noting that about 25 per cent of CEOs are thanked for their service and dismissed before their contracts are up.

Cyprus 4.0

There is definitely a special character and skill set particular to successful CEOs, one that makes them different from very capable executives or efficient board members.

What it seems to come down to is the ability to drive organisations forward. It may not be in the right direction, but someone has to call an end to discussion and actually take action. CEOs are exceptionally able to take in many points of view at once, and to extract a plan of action from them.

The CEOs you will find interviewed in this online series all demonstrate this ability, and this becomes clear from the trenchant points of view they express. Uncompromising, blunt and impactful are the words that come to mind – the last somehow sums it all up, although you might prefer to say ‘adrenalising,’ which gives the gut-racking sense of how a good CEO makes you feel.

They all have strong views on Cyprus and where we should be headed. But a number feel that the values inculcated in Cyprus life have a direct application to business — team building, leadership, building trust.

And they are an entirely diverse group, as a selection of Cyprus CEOs should be, including famous women, tech wizards, polymaths and masterminds.

All of these CEOs are engaged with the values of Cyprus 4.0, the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Cyprus.

But we should let them speak for themselves.
