The health ministry on Friday published a list of private labs that carry out rapid antigen Covid-19 tests which do not require PCR confirmation.

Positive coronavirus cases detected by rapid tests carried out by the health ministry mobile units are considered genuinely positive and do not require verification using the PCR method.

The same will apply as from Friday for positive cases detected by tests carried out by private labs included in the list below.

These labs use the SARS-CoV-2 antigen tests which fulfil the specifications set out by the health ministry and are in line with the recommendations of the ECDC and WHO, the ministry added.

Individuals who test positive after a rapid antigen test not carried out by the health ministry’s mobile units or by a private lab included in the above list must contact their personal doctor so that he/she can refer them for a PCR test through the public health centres.

All those who test positive must immediately self-isolate and follow instructions for confirmed Covid-19 cases. Further instructions will be given by the epidemiological surveillance unit once the lab forwards the positive result.

Individuals with coronavirus symptoms who have a negative SARS-CoV-2 antigen test result are advised to contact their personal doctor for evaluation and to arrange further investigation with a PCR.

Individuals without coronavirus symptoms and with a negative SARS-CoV-2 antigen test may develop coronavirus and must continue to adhere to all personal protective measures and protocols.

Under a decree issued on January 8, the maximum price for a rapid test is €20.
