In this video, we take a look at 10 highlights from the jewellery collections of late Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor.
Born in London in 1932 to American parents who were art dealers, the young Taylor and her family relocated to Los Angeles after the start of World War II. She first appeared on the silver screen in the 1942 film ‘There’s One Born Every Minute’ at the age of 10, and became a household name at age 12 with 1944’s ‘National Velvet’, which grossed over $4 million.
As history can attest, many more films and accolades followed. But as much as Taylor earned acclaim for appearing in such movies as ‘Cat on a Hot Tin Roof’, ‘Butterfield 8’ and ‘Cleopatra’, not to mention notoriety for her star-studded marriages, she was also renown for her staggering collection of gems and precious stones.
Indeed, she became recipient of jewels worthy of royalty, and even penned a book on her plethora of beautiful gems and baubles.
