In this video, Melissa Maker, host of the Clean My Space YouTube channel, explains how to set up a simple fruit-fly trap to get rid of summer’s unwelcome guests.

The materials needed for the fruit fly trap:

  • A container (such as a glass)
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • 2 sheets of cling film
  • A paring knife

Instructions

Fill the container 1/8 of the way full with balsamic vinegar, then cover it with cling film. With the paring knife pierce four small holes on the top of the cling film. Leave the container out overnight, in a spot you believe would be most effective in drawing the fruit flies.

The next day, remove the container’s cling film since fruit flies may have laid eggs on it. Replace it with a new sheet of film, and, as before, pierce four small holes into it. Repeat this process for 2-3 days or until you no longer see the presence of fruit flies.
