The health ministry announced on Sunday that there had been no new deaths from Covid but that 100 people had tested positive from 43,478 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.23 per cent.
There were six cases found at a Famagusta area retirement home.
There are 112 people in hospitals of whom 45 are in serious condition. Of these 20 are intubated.
The ministry said 83.9 per cent of those in hospital are unvaccinated. The death toll since March 2020, remains at 528.
Of the 43,478 tests on Sunday, 5,370 were PCR and 38,108 rapid tests yielding 100 positives as follows:
- 1 from 30 samples taken through contact tracing
- 7 from 3,436 tests at the airports
- 20 from 1,851 samples taken through private initiative.
- 28 from 14,226 tests at labs and pharmacies
- 44 through 23,882 tests under the ministry’s free rapid programme, including the six retirement home cases plus another two from airport testing outside of the usual random checks
