No deaths were announced from coronavirus on Sunday as the ministry of health recorded 206 new Covid cases.

These were from a total of 40,298, representing a positivity rate of 0.51 per cent.

Among the tests 3,598 were PCR and 36,700 rapid tests.

Six cases were found from 307 samples taken among close contacts of confirmed cases while two were found among 1,938 samples taken at the airports.

Fifteen cases were found from 991 tests taken on private initiative and seven among 894 samples tested at labs in state hospitals.

A further two were found among 268 samples ordered by personal doctors.

Of the 16,741 tests taken at private clinics and labs, 66 were positive as were 108 samples from the 19,959 tests taken at government rapid test sites.

There are 85 people in hospital among with 39 are in a serious condition either in ICU or a high dependency unit. Among these 11 are intubated, two are in ICU but not on a ventilator.

Of those hospitalised 64.71 per cent have no history of vaccination.

Three post Covid patients continue to be treated in intensive care units.

Since the start of the pandemic there have been 127,684 cases in Cyprus and 588 deaths, 376 of which were men and 212 women.
