Coronavirus: Boosters made available for 40+

Boosters will be made available to all those aged 40 and above on Wednesday, provided that six months have elapsed since the previous shot, the health ministry said.

Pfizer and Moderna boosters, third jabs, will be made available to all those who received the mRNA vaccines previously, as well as to those who initially received AstraZeneca – no further AZ shots will be made available.

It was not immediately clear why AZ jabs are not being administered for boosters.

Notably, those who initially received a Johnson&Johnson jab will either be able to get a second shot from J&J or an mRNA jab (Pfizer / Moderna).

The boosters are made available at the walk-in vaccination centres across the Republic from Monday-Thursday, 8am-1pm. Bookings are also made available via the health ministry’s online vaccination portal.

The ministry reminded the public to bring their ID cards (or passports and other identification documents where necessary) and their vaccination cards.
