Larnaca police early on Friday confiscated 180 Easter bangers and are expected to charge a 19-year-old man with illegal possession of explosives.

In a written statement, police said that at around 2.30 am on Friday, officers were tipped off that firecrackers had been set off and went to the area. There they found the man, a Larnaca resident, sitting in a parked car.

They searched the car and found nine packets containing a total of 180 Easter bangers. The youth was taken to a police station where he was questioned and is expected to be charged with illegal possession of explosives.
