Electricity supply restored after fault at power plant

The Vasilikos power station

Districts across the island were hit with power cuts at 9.20am as a result of a faulty production unit at the main Vasiliko station on Wednesday morning.

Backup supplies went online at 10am, while mechanics are on location working on the production unit, Electricity Authority of Cyprus spokeswoman Christina Papadopoulou confirmed to the Cyprus Mail.

The backup units at the station swiftly took over the supply shortage, she told us, adding that mechanics are at the station around the clock.
