Another month full of music and cultural gatherings awaits and just as August rolls in two local bands will bring rumba, flamenco and Latin jazz sounds to Technopolis 20. The Paphos cultural venue continues its music nights in the garden by welcoming Rumba Attack and Macumba in the two first weeks of August.

Rumba Attack will return to Technopolis 20 seven years after their last performance at the venue, on Sunday, August 7. The three-piece band performs original instrumental material as well as select covers in their distinctive Flamenco-Rumba style, blended with sounds from Middle Eastern and Greek origins, Rock and Bossanova. Their performance will include instrumentals of Rumba Arabe, Inspired and Salvaje de la Noche, as well as traditional Greek vocal songs performed in their own unique style.

A few days later one of the most well-known bands in Cyprus will perform. Macumba presents a musical cocktail of Brazilian funk, samba, rumba and guaguanco afro-Cuban, blended with a modern post-jazz aesthetic. The popular band, consisting of three Cypriots and one Chilean, is presenting a different approach to Latin Music, with an explosive repertoire including original songs and some versions of Latin – Jazz. Their performance on August 12 promises to bring the same spice and flair to the venue, showcasing a very different kind of jazzy repertoire.
