Fire service carries out training exercise at Petrolina facility

The fire service on Tuesday participated in a fire drill hosted at Petrolina’s facilities in Vasiliko as part of training activities.

The exercise followed a scenario where a fire broke out on the roof of a liquid fuel tank from a sparking tool during ongoing work.

In the scenario, the two people who were on the roof of the tank managed to get down using its ladder, while another person passed out at the site of the incident.

To extinguish the fire and rescue a person, the newly established Vasiliko fire station responded with new equipment and fire engines which can produce large amounts of foam, aided by Petrolina’s automatic fire extinguishing system which would serve to cool adjacent tanks.

The two sides expressed their satisfaction for the success of the exercise, stressing the importance of their close existing cooperation, which concerns the familiarisation of the fire extinguishing systems available at Petrolina’s facilities in Vasiliko, for immediate and effective response to real life incidents.
