Eight people are under investigation by Paphos police on Tuesday, for a case of conspiracy to commit a felony, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, injury, armed robbery, illegal possession and transportation of a firearm, assault and stabbing.

According to police spokesman, Michalis Nikolaou, around 11 pm on Monday police received information about a commotion at an apartment building on Danais Avenue.

Police sped to the scene where they were told that around 10 pm eight people had allegedly arrived at the apartment and knocked on the door, which was opened by the tenants.

According to the six tenants, two of the visitors held pistols, others swords and sticks. The men proceeded to assault the tenants, targeting one 20-year-old whom they succeeded in stabbing on the shoulder blade with a sword. A second tenant, aged 24, also suffered a sword wound to the palm.

Subsequently, the eight assailants stole two mobile phones worth €600, and €500 in cash, and left.

The injured tenants were taken to the Paphos general hospital A&E where they were surgically treated for their wounds.

Meanwhile, one of the eight alleged perpetrators has been identified and is wanted. The scene has been cordoned off and Paphos CID is continuing investigations.
