Two arrested for fake travel docs at Paphos airport

The Paphos District Court on Thursday issued a one-day detention order against two persons being investigated for forgery and impersonation, following their attempt to fly from Paphos airport without proper documents.

According to police spokesman Michalis Nikolaou, the man and woman, bound for France, presented themselves at ​​Paphos airport at 4am.

The woman presented a French ID and the man a Belgian ID during passport control. Checks revealed that the document presented by the woman was fake, while the photo on the Belgian travel document presented by the man did not depict him. It was moreover established that the ID had been reported as stolen in Belgium.

When interrogated, the the man and woman admitted their ages, 31 and 36 respectively, and that both are nationals of an African country.
