With a new month round the corner, the action does not stop in Limassol finds ELENI PHILIPPOU

November is quite literally just around the corner, and Rialto Theatre has announced a packed programme of cultural productions. Starting the month is a Greek adaption of An Inspector Calls on Wednesday.

Dionysus Theatre will present JB Pristley’s best-known and most acclaimed crime drama. Under the direction of Christos Yiangou, actors will transport audiences back to 1912 when the prosperous British Birling family is about to celebrate a special occasion. Two families will be joined in marriage, keeping their status in high society. All is well until Inspector Goole shows up, announcing the death of a female worker at one of the Birling factories.

On November 2, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra will present the Cyprophonia 1 concert which features works by distinguished Cypriot composers, including some world premieres. Joining the orchestra will be tenor Christos Kechris and baritone Dionisos Tsantinis.

As part of the Weeks of the German Language 2023, the Embassy of Switzerland will present a Swiss film at the Rialto Theatre on November 3. The fiction-dramedy Golden Years will be screened for free and in its original Swiss German with English subtitles.

Then the focus will turn to dance. First will be the inaugural Cyprus Dance Film Festival on November 5, organised by Cult Experiences. The event fuses dance and cinema by screening a diverse selection of local and international dance films. Screenings start at 2pm and at 9pm an Awards Ceremony will take place where live dance shows will be performed, and exceptional filmmakers will be recognised and celebrated.
