A short circuit caused the fire at the Paphos desalination plant, police confirmed on Saturday.
Located between Kouklia and Mandria, the facility sustained extensive damage as a result of the flames which broke out last week.
Staff evacuated the premises safely and no one was injured.
According to Paphos deputy police operations chief Michalis Nicolaou, expert examinations at the desalination plant in Timi were wrapped on Saturday morning.
They concluded the fire was caused by a short circuit in the building’s electrical installation, without any malicious incentive.
