The fourth person to be arrested in connection with an attempted murder earlier this month in the village of Kornos, Larnaca district, was handed a seven-day remand order on Friday to facilitate questioning.
The man, aged 24, a permanent resident of Nicosia, was arrested on Thursday on a pending warrant.
Three other suspects aged 24-25 remain in police custody, having been arrested last Monday and last Saturday.
Multiple shots were fired in an outdoor area in Kornos on January 9, with the 30-year-old victim hospitalised after the incident, and having briefly been in a critical condition.
The police currently believe that at around 2pm on the day in question, the 30-year-old visited an area in the village with the aim of meeting people over the sale of a car.
There, he was approached by a vehicle, with four men, two of whom were allegedly armed with pistols, getting out.
The 30-year-old attempted to escape, but was shot several times, suffering injuries to his hand and shoulder blade.
Larnaca CID is investigating.
