A 15-year-old was arrested at Limassol’s marina area on Saturday night after he was spotted boasting a gun to his friends, police said on Sunday.
An off-duty police officer spotted the group of teenagers, with the 15-year-old holding a gun and showing it off.
The officer approached the group and searched them, finding the gun and bullets in a bag. He arrested the 15-year-old on the spot and took him to Limassol’s police headquarters.
The teenager was questioned in the presence of his mother, a lawyer and social worker. He claimed to have bought the items online from a Greek website for €300.
Police have since discovered that the gun bears the same registration number that someone legally owns in Limassol.
