The screening programme showcasing European films from a wide array of genres and languages through 2025 continues with an upcoming film night. March 20’s screening will be the second one of the series offering an exciting cinematic experience.
The project is presented by the European Union National Institutes for Culture in Cyprus (EUNIC), in collaboration with the Friends of Cinema Society, and with the support of the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus, arranging film nights with free entry.
The diverse range of films selected reflects the multicultural essence of Europe, as they explore themes ranging from historical events to contemporary social issues. On March 20, Bird, a 2024 film will be screened at Pantheon Theatre in Nicosia. It is a British, American, French and German co-production, directed by Andrea Arnold.
Bird tells the story of 12-year-old Bailey who lives with her single dad Bug and brother Hunter in a squat in northern Kent. Bug doesn’t have much time for his kids and Bailey, who is approaching puberty, seeks attention and adventure elsewhere. The film will be screened in English with Greek subtitles.
Cinephiles will also have the chance to watch films from Austria, Cyprus, France, Ireland, Italy, Poland and Spain. All of them will be screened at Pantheon Theatre in their original language with English or Greek subtitles. Details on the upcoming screenings will be shared throughout the year.
