The presence of migrant facilities in the heart of the Paralimni-Deryneia tourist area is tarnishing the municipality’s image and damaging the region’s reputation as a top travel destination, the local authorities have stated.

In an official announcement, the municipality urged all relevant bodies to take immediate action to relocate these facilities.

The municipality expresses its deep dissatisfaction with the continued operation of migrant structures within the tourism zone. Their presence in the area undermines the municipality’s image and affects the prestige of one of Cyprus’s most popular tourist destinations,” the statement read.

Calling for urgent intervention, the municipality made a final appeal to the authorities to relocate the facilities to areas that do not hinder tourism development or impact the safety of residents and visitors. “Ensuring public order, maintaining residents’ quality of life, and preserving the municipality’s status as a leading tourist destination remain top priorities,” it emphasised.

Despite its concerns, the municipality affirmed its willingness to engage in dialogue with the relevant authorities to find solutions that safeguard both public welfare and security.
