Swimming pools use relatively little water as they simply circulate the water that’s already there, but putting a cover on pools to stop evaporation in mid-summer would help. Irrigation is necessary but a team could be assembled to advise people on the right plants and the right methods to mitigate losses. The big culprits of course are tourism which is the lifeblood of the country and can’t be discouraged and building which uses an astonishing amount of water. Scaling back on building when there are so many empty properties would seem by far the easiest way forward.
