A collection of value for money art is the theme of yet another Lush Art in Difficult Times exhibition, set to open on April 4. As all other previous 16 editions of the exhibition series, this event presents a collection of artworks priced under €500, aiming to bridge the gap between art and the wider public, providing collectors, new or not, with the opportunity to acquire artworks at affordable prices.

The exhibition engages with works by emerging and established contemporary artists, presenting a collection of works from diverse, juxtaposed perspectives, weaving maps of meanings, colours, shapes, techniques and concerns.

“In light of the current socio-political climate,” explain organisers, “art insists on the necessity of the aesthetic experience for emotional catharsis and the cultivation of the social imaginary and agency against manufactured consent.

“Recent research shows that participants had ten times more emotional response to an original work of art than to a copy,” they add.

Participating in the 17th edition curated by Andros Efstathiou and Maria Kofterou are the artists: Mariella Bilitsa, Ilina Chervonnaya, Christos Dubart, Katerina Efstratiou, Ioanna Epaminondou, Tatiana Ferahian, Athina Frenaritou, Yiannis Kofteros, Maria Kofterou, Charitini Kyriakou, Marietta Lianou, Anna Miltiadou, Katerina Neofytidou, Charoulla Nicolaidou, Pantelis Nicolaou, Thekla Papadopoulou, Christina Papaioannou, Elina Partheniou, Constantinos Stefanou, Milenko Stevanović, Demetris Soteriou and Elena Tsigaridou.
