A 22-year-old man arrested on Monday in connection with the attempted murder of a 47-year-old businessman in July was remanded for eight days on Tuesday.
The suspect faces six charges, including attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a felony, theft, receiving stolen goods, illegal possession, and transportation of a firearm and explosives.
His lawyer did not object to the police’s request to keep him in custody.
A search of the 22-year-old’s home revealed a loaded pistol, police said.
In October, the suspect allegedly confessed the attempted murder to a third party.
According to investigations, he had been tracking the businessman’s location and requested leave from work on the day of the attack.
Police recovered a piece of clothing that the 22-year-old dropped while fleeing the scene, which is now being tested for DNA to confirm its match to the suspect.
Authorities are also awaiting the examination results of the suspect’s mobile phone and a ballistic test on the pistol found inside his home.
While the search for the firearm used during the murder attempt continues, police reported that the suspect is refusing to cooperate and speak to the authorities, although he has no criminal past.
Investigations into the case continue.
