The health ministry marked the delivery of new medical equipment to the Archbishop Makarios III hospital on Friday, in what officials described as a step towards strengthening public healthcare.
Health Minister Michael Damianos said the new equipment will support the hospital’s services and improve care for children and their families.
He spoke during a handover ceremony at the hospital, stressing that the upgrade forms part of wider efforts to modernise public hospitals and reinforce frontline services.
The minister said cooperation between state bodies, private donors and organised groups made the initiative possible. He said that these partnerships aim to build a health system that meets current needs and prepares for future challenges.
Damianos thanked the hospital’s welfare council for its long-standing support to patients.
He also expressed gratitude to the donors involved in strengthening the equipment of the hospital’s third operating theatre. These included the Anastasios Leventis foundation, the Leventis gallery and the embassy of Greece.
He said their contribution was more than a donation of equipment, describing it as an investment in the health and wellbeing of children.
According to the health ministry, targeted actions and continued cooperation with all stakeholders remain central to efforts to improve public healthcare across the country.
