The Paralimni-Deryneia municipality has installed ten additional feeding shelters for stray cats, according to an announcement issued on Sunday.
The shelters were donated by veterinarian Panayiotis Tsoukkas, owner of the Furry Friends Veterinary Clinic in Paralimni.
The municipality described the donation as “a beautiful gesture that demonstrates in practice a love for animals”.
It added that the municipality “continues its animal welfare actions tirelessly so that our four-legged friends can live safely, well-fed and loved”.
In a separate announcement, the municipality said the local council has approved plans to upgrade and landscape the roundabout located near the district land registry office in Paralimni.
According to the statement, the central feature of the redesigned roundabout will be a traditional agricultural windmill, intended to serve as a landmark for the municipality.
It will be surrounded by a circular water installation with successive jets of water, which will rise and fall and be illuminated with alternating colours.
The area will also include landscaped greenery and flowers.
