A budget of €7,693,500 has been allocated for farmers whose crops and fixed assets were damaged due to poor weather conditions in 2024 and 2025, the agriculture ministry announced on Friday.
“The proposal was approved by the fund’s management committee on March 18 and ensures direct support for affected producers, contributing to the maintenance of productive activity in the primary sector,” the ministry said.
The scheme will be made available for up to 1,528 beneficiaries whose potatoes, carobs, vegetables, deciduous and other trees were affected by the weather.
Most of the funding, €7,163,000, will be allocated through the national framework for adverse climate phenomena, while €330,500 will be provided via de minimis aid for crops for which insufficient statistical data is available.
A further sum of €200,000 will be distributed from the national disaster fund.
The aid will be granted with a maximum amount of €50,000 per single enterprise over a period of three years in line with EU regulations.
The aid will be paid to the farmers via the agricultural production protection and insurance fund within the framework of the current legislative risk management framework.
According to the ministry, the payment of the aid is will proceed in the “coming period”, upon completion of the required procedures.
