More than 400,000 people have undergone a rapid coronavirus test in the last two weeks, the health ministry announced on Monday.

Between February 1 to February 14, the health ministry carried out more than 402,000 free rapid tests to the public.

The number included those returning to work who had to present a negative Covid-19 test.

“The aim of the programme is the continuous and real-time recording of the epidemiological situation of the country and timely intervention,” the health ministry said.

According to the most recent ministry decree, a percentage of employers in every organisation or company must get tested on a weekly basis.

People who are self-employed, such as electricians and plumbers, must also undergo a weekly examination, and be able to present it if asked by their clients.

Domestic workers are also obligated to get tested on a weekly basis.

Test sites are operating on a daily basis nationwide.
