In this video we head to Lindau to visit an Opera house of a very special kind – one designed exclusively for performances by marionettes, founded and led by Bernhard Leismüller.

Lindau is a major town and island on the eastern side of Lake Constance in Germany’s Bavaria.

Here, Leismüller literally pulls all the strings, carving each marionette from wood, and dressing the puppet in hand-sewn costumes. Since he started the Opera, he has made over 400 pieces.
