The health ministry announced two deaths and 374 new cases of Covid-19 on Sunday from 41,269 PCR and rapid tests, a positivity rate of 0.9%. Of the new cases, 141 were in Limassol.
The deaths concerned a man aged 49 with underlying conditions who died at Limassol hospital and a woman aged 88 without underlying conditions who died at Larnaca hospital Total deaths stand at 240 made up of 159 men and 81 women with an average age of 79.
There are 205 people in hospitals, 37 of whom are in a serious condition. Of these 19 are intubated.
Of the 41,269 tests 2,327 were PCR and 38,942 rapid tests with the following results:
- 105 cases from 747 samples taken through contact tracing
- 3 from 3 samples taken at airports
- 43 from 1,155 samples taken through private initiative.
- 3 from 214 samples at hospital labs
- 6 from 175 rapid tests taken at private clinical laboratories.
- 214 from 38,767 samples taken as part of the ministry’s free rapid test programme
No cases were detected as part of 208 samples taken through GP referrals
