A sports day fundraiser organised by the Cyprus association of cancer patients and friends (Pasykaf) at Amiantos village this weekend will help promote local nature and traditional foods.
Run for Life will start at 9.30am on Sunday at the Amiantos multifunctional and exhibition centre in Limassol, in collaboration with the Cyprus University of Technology (Tepak) and the Ev-Zin association of runners.
12-kilometre and five-kilometre road races will take place, as well as a 1.5 kilometre family run, and children’s road races of one kilometre and 600 metres.
The day will also include a race for people in wheelchairs.
At the event, “participants and all the visitors will have the opportunity to get to know Cypriot nature and to taste local delicacies,” Pasykaf said.
The event is organised in memory of Thekla Avgousti, who died in 2017, at the age of 54 after battling cancer.
Pasykaf aims to improve and ensure the quality of life of people and families who are experiencing cancer at all stages of the disease from diagnosis to treatment to rehabilitation to bereavement.
