Volunteers from a Larnaca army camp on Tuesday helped clean up the Larnaca salt lake and nature trail.

In an announcement congratulating the volunteers from the Andrea Souroukli army camp, Larnaca municipality said conscripts and officers were also informed about the flora and fauna of the area as well as the dangers of pollution of the wetland after the clean-up.

This came one day after Hermes airports announced a Hoverguard 100 Rescue craft has made a successful trial at the salt lake within Larnaca Airport.

According to Hermes Airports, “the rescue hovercraft can execute rescue missions in the water, swamp, and flood.”
