You don’t often hear Santa Clause referred to as real scum, but that is the title of the Christmas comedy Alpha Square is currently presenting. Written by the hilarious Greek duo Reppas and Papathanasiou, the play premiered in Athens last year to rave reviews and is now playing in Cyprus. After a few December performances in Nicosia and Larnaca, director-actor Andreas Araouzos will take the comic tales of the play all around the island in January.

A deceived woman, a pregnant one, a trans, a ‘normal guy’, a hillbilly in love, a foreigner and a pervert are all spending Christmas Eve together but each in a world of their own. With a cast including Fotis Apostolides, Marina Vrondi, Thanasis Drakopoulos, Christina Constantinou, Herodotos Miltiadous, Irene Salata Georgiou and Andreas Araouzos, the play unfolds hilarious, tragicomical scenes on stage.
Though the Nicosia performances had completed their run, Alpha Square has added a few more last-minute shows in the capital. Back by popular demand then, Theatro Dentro will host the play on December 28 at 8.30pm and January 2 and 9 at 6pm. After that, the play will make a stop at Rialto Theatre in Limassol for a performance on January 5 before it continues to Paphos for a show at Markideio Theatre on January 6.
