A restaurant in the Morphou area was fined €1,500 for breaking Covid rules while a second was fined €750 for not checking for SafePasses as 1,848 checks were carried out around the island on Covid measures in the 24 hours up to 6am on Monday.

In Larnaca a café was fined €750 and a shop €500 because employees did not have a SafePass.

Meanwhile in Limassol two mini markets and one kiosk were each fined €500 for not checking SafePasses, for the manager not having a SafePass and there not being the required signage.

In Nicosia a further two kiosks were fined the same amount as someone working there did not have a SafesPass.

In total the 1,848 checks found 20 individuals and nine business operators had violated Covid regulations.

A police spokesman said in Nicosia 379 checks saw two businesses fined and in Limassol 183 checks resulted in nine individuals and three managers fined.

Meanwhile in Larnaca 458 checks were carried out where two citizens and two managers were booked, while in Paphos 106 checks saw two citizens charged and in Morphou 179 checks found just the two businesses in violation.

Three citizens were also fined at the airports.
