President Nikos Christodoulides on Friday had a call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi where they stressed the importance of Israel and Hamas agreeing to a ceasefire.
The two presidents said it was extremely importantly to avoid escalating tensions and release all hostages and detainees, according to government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis.
Christodoulides “deep concern regarding the dire situation in Gaza” and expressed his sadness for the loss of civilians.”
He underlined the Sisi’s role in mediating “an urgently needed ceasefire deal.”
During the call, Christodoulides reiterated Cyprus’ readiness to implement its role as a humanitarian hub always in line with its policy seeking to be part of the solution and aiming to promote conditions of peace and stability, according to Letymbiotis’ post on X.
Christodoulides and Sisi agreed to remain in close coordination.
