The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) on Wednesday published the latest figures on deposit and loan interest rates for households and businesses in December 2024.

The data reveal fluctuations across financial institutions, with adjustments in both deposit and lending rates.

Among term deposits for households with a maturity of up to one year, the highest rate was offered by the National Bank of Greece (Cyprus) at 2.41 per cent, down from 2.49 per cent in November.

Eurobank followed at 2.17 per cent, showing a marginal increase from the previous month.

The Cyprus Development Bank recorded a rate of 1.76 per cent, compared to 1.98 per cent in November.

The Bank of Cyprus saw its rate rise to 1.71 per cent from 0.72 per cent, while the Housing Finance Corporation (HFC) reported a decline to 1.67 per cent from 1.88 per cent.

Moroever, Societe Generale’s rate also dropped to 1.46 per cent from 1.57 per cent.

Other banks, including Alpha Bank, Ancoria, Astrobank, and Hellenic Bank, reported deposit rates ranging between 1.32 and 1.56 per cent.

For business deposits, National Bank maintained the highest rate at 2.38 per cent, despite a decline from 2.54 per cent in November.

Hellenic Bank recorded a decrease to 2.02 per cent from 2.14 per cent, while the Bank of Cyprus reported a rise to 1.83 per cent from 1.69 per cent.

The rate at Eurobank stood at 1.69 per cent, slightly lower than November’s 1.87 per cent.

Other banks, including Alpha Bank, Ancoria, and Astrobank, offered rates between 1.20 and 1.67 per cent.

Regarding loan interest rates for new mortgage contracts with an initial fixed term of up to one year, the Bank of Cyprus recorded the highest rate at 5.35 per cent, up from 5.20 per cent in November.

Eurobank reported a decline to 3.41 per cent from 4.54 per cent, while Hellenic Bank saw an increase to 4.27 per cent from 4.02 per cent.

Astrobank’s rate fell to 4.30 per cent from 4.85 per cent, and Ancoria saw a marginal rise to 3.83 per cent from 3.78 per cent.

Finally, Societe Generale reported the highest mortgage rate at 6.60 per cent.
