A new section on unfair commercial practices has been added to the Agriculture Department’s website, containing information on agricultural products and allowing interested parties to file a complaint.

By clicking the link, people now have access to a complaint form, answers to frequently asked questions, an informative guide, applicable legislation, announcements and annual reports.

Legislation passed in 2021 lists the unfair practices, as well as timeframes for paying suppliers of agricultural products and foods – 30 days for perishables and 60 days for non-perishables – the immediate issuing of invoices and the use and return of packing boxes.
